Hi - what is the best way to get from CDG airport to Gare de Lyon?

Has anyone tried the Air france shuttle?

How long did it take?

I beleive the RER train goes straight there.

Anyone else know for sure and the cost?

The AF Shuttle costs 11.50€ and takes about an hour, though last time I took it it took almost 3 because of horrible traffic problems. It leaves from Gate 34 of Terminal 1 every 20 minutes.

I've taken the AF shuttle a couple times and it took around 45-60 minutes, I guess, that would be normal. The 3 hrs it took St Cirq is really unusual.

The RER does not go right to Gare de Lyon from the airport, you have to transfer at Chatelet/Les Halles which is a large station and you may have to walk around a bit, but you could do it. It's only a couple euro less than the AF bus, though, so I would take the bus which I think is quite nice and will be easier.

Two things: The change of RER lines at Chatelet could not be easier! Descend from the airport train, walk across the platform, 10 paces, and board the next train that comes. It will take you to the Gare de Lyon. Also, the Air France buses stop at Port Maillot, Charles de Gaulle Etoile, the Invalides and the Montparnasse train station, but unless I am very badly mistaken they won't take you to the Gare de Lyon -- or anywhere else on my side of the city, the glorious east! If you take an Air France bus you'll still have a cab ride, or an even more complicated RER and/or Metro trajectory, to the Gare de Lyon. Have a great trip!

The Air France bus from CDG to Gare Montparnasse stops first at Gare de Lyon.

I also agree that RER is the best. I took it to my hotel when I went to Paris last year and I remember it's really cheap (about 5 euro or less). The ticket allows you to take the RER and transfer to metro so it's really worth it. If my memory does not fail me, I think that ticket is also a day-ticket so it's really a bargain. I hope the info is still accurate.

Dave: The AF navette definitely goes to the Gare de Lyon, usually in under an hour. My one 3-hour ride was an anomaly.

If you take the RER(lineB) into Paris, you can change to either:
RER(lineA) -or- RER(lineD) at Chatelet-les Halles

The one-way ticket is about 8€.

I know this is a silly question, but is there no train to your location leaving directly from the airport?

Thanks everyone...I'm visiting my Niece in Grenoble. I'm wondering whether it's easier to take the TGV from the airport to Lyon and then transfer to grenoble ... or ... go to Gare de Lyon and then TGV directly to Grenoble...any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks hope

Are you sure you can get to Grenoble directly on the TGV from Gare de Lyon?

Conversely, if there is a TGV that goes to Grenoble through Lyon, are you sure there aren't such trains that start out from CDG?

Easiest is to take the TGV from CDG to Lyon, then the train to Grenoble. One, for example leaves CDG at 10:10 AM and arrives in Grenoble at 13:50 with a 15 minute change in Lyon.

If you're <u>really</u> lucky, you might get one of the straight-through trains at 12:09 and 18:45.

Otherwise, your minimum time enroute would be to take Air France to Gare de Lyon and TGV straight to Grenoble.

The TGV from CDG to Lyon requires a longer ride on a regional train and a layover in Lyon.

You're right in that last statement, Robespierre, but it still gets you from CDG to Grenoble in a total of 3 hours and 40 minutes.
The shortest time for a TGV, even if you get the direct one from Gare Lyon to Grenoble is right at 3 hours. Are you saying you can count on getting from CDG to Gare Lyon in under 40 minutes? I'd sure never count on THAT!

I repeat, the easiest is to take the TGV from CDG to Lyon, and then after 15 minutes take the local to Grenoble. It is also the shortest in time CDG to Grenoble that I can find. Anyone find otherwise?

Of course which is BEST for you, all depends on your arrival time at CDG.

You can get from CDG to Grenoble without going into Paris <u>or</u> changing trains in Lyon. TGV door-to-door!

Are those every day or seasonal? Why can't I find those direct ones listed?

They don't run on Friday or Sunday, but they show up on both die Bahn and SNCF.
