A couple of years ago on our first trip to Great Britain we purchased the Heritage Pass (I think that's what it's called). With it came a great brochure with dozens of "castles, cathedrals, and stately homes" and gardens (almost all the "biggies&quot. We got off the plane at Gatwick, picked up our car and we were at our first castle within the hour!
The map in the brochure pinpoints the attractions and by using it we we were able to effectively see so very much! We stayed in the South knowing that we would be back to see the more of the island. (and, yes, last May we were in Wales and next fall we will be in Scotland.) anyway, it worked for us. . .
