My mother and I are looking into traveling to the Castelrotto area of the Dolomites in June. We are looking for a small Gasthof (Bed & Breakfast) in the old part of town as opposed to a large hotel. I'm having trouble finding anything smaller than the bigger hotels. We hope to stay in one place for two weeks and take day trips from Castelrotto. (My mother is 92 and an avid walker..but no longer a hiker). Any advice about accommodations would be welcome. We'd love any ideas for traveling in the area as well. Thank you!

What have you done so far to look up accommodations? I start off by looking at Google Maps. I suppose finding a room (assuming you are sharing) for two weeks straight can be tricky.... it looks like for most smaller places you need to send in a request first.

Thanks so much for the quick reply! We have looked at most of the general accommodation sites which don't seem to include the small family run bed and breakfasts commonly found small towns. Generally the tourist information offices in towns will have a listing of the smaller accommodations but it's hard to find these types of listings online.

Trip Advisor lists just about any accommodation in the area...B&Bs, hotels, guest houses, etc. You can specify when you go to the hotel section. Also Booking.com. Those are just about the only 3rd party sites I would trust for reviews, apart from the small ones like Mr. and Mrs. Smith and i-Escape.
