Castelo Banfi

Anyone ever had the pre fixe lunch at Castelo Banfi in Montalcino?

How was the food?

Is the amount of wine limited?

You're looking for an all-you-can-drink Tuscan wine lunch?

Come on - no, really, come on...

No, thats not what I'm looking for. I merely asked a reasonable question and anticipated a reasonable answer.

Yes, we have done that but it was 1996. The food was very good and we had a different wine with each course---about 6 courses. I had to drive home to San Gim. after lunch and had to fight to stay awake.

We drove up from Todi on a Saturday in 2002. Very nice lunch & we tasted the 97 Brunellos which had just been released.

Here is the menu: http://tiny.cc/q9iPX

Thanks...wasn't looking to get "drunk" on free wine...although Banfi is about as good as it gets.

First its not free!

Second, I have to drive back to Montepulciano later that day.

Just wondering if you got different wines with each of the three courses etc.

Should have asked a better question!

Ooops my bad!

Sorry, can't answer your question. But I have to say that Montalcino is one of the best memories that I have from the trip to Tuscany last year. My wife and I went to a small restaurant, got a plate full of Italian ham and we had samples of three different brunello wines. And the view from the place was just priceless. Here is my trip report with pictures http://gardkarlsen.com/florence_italy_travelogue.htm

Yes, we had the lunch last summer. Very good with wine at every course, including grappa at the end, I think. The grounds are gorgeous and it was time well spent. Food was very good although I couldn't eat the meat because it was very rare. Do it.
