Castello di Verrazzano wine tour

I've read some positive reviews about the wine tour & tasting offered at Castello di Verrazzano, and have reserved a spot for my husband and I while on our trip in September. We can do the tasting (4 wines with the glass) for 16 Euro p/p or the lunch (5 wines, 5 courses, no glass) for 36 Euro p/p. I can't decide which one to do! A 5 course lunch sounds like a lot of food, and I normally don't eat much! Then again, I'm not familiar with the size of the courses, so it may not be too bad.

Has anyone done this tour recently, with or without the lunch, that could give me a recommendation?

Thanks so much!

We went to this tour and tasting last year. Missed the tour. It took longer to get there than anticipated. But we had the tasting. The whole outfit is much bigger than I expected, with tourbuses etc. But the view was wonderful, the wine flowed freely, the food was great. They sat us at a large table with people of different nationalites. The wine and conversation flowed and we had a GREAT time. We did the 5 wines. They just bring the food around on trays and you help yourself. The preasure to buy their products was very low. At first, I thought the expense of it was alot, but by the time I came out - I didn't care ! Was a memory well worth it !

This winery experience sounds delightful. Unfortunately, I don't know where it is. Would you please describe its location. Many thanks.

This winery was also featured on one of the $40 a day Rachael Ray shows.

That aside, we went about four years ago and enjoyed it tremendously.

Sha: Have you never heard of Google?

It is located near Greve in Chianti.

We did their winery tour in May 2004. I cut and paste the below from my trip report. As far as directions, we printed out directions from and before we left and found it ok. Have a good trip!

This was one of our greatest highlights of our trips. Gino, the host of our tour, was so entertaining. We toured the cellars and learned how the wine was made. We decided to stay for the lunch and wine tasting (34 Euro per person). Our original plan was to stay for the tour and tasting at 17 Euro per person. But, we felt we should stay based on Gino's advice. And, we are so very glad we did. It ended up being a 5 hour experience. And let's talk "tasting!" This is no tasting; this is pure enjoyment of wine and food. We had a glass of 5 different wines and they left the bottles on the table of each wine so you could enjoy the rest. The food kept coming too!Definitely worth the money and so relaxing and fun! I think we had 20 people in the tour and tasting from all parts of the world. The winery is beautiful and the views were spectacular!

I did this tasting and tour about a year ago and I enjoyed myself immensely. 5 courses is not alot. Keep in mind you get a tasting, not a huge american size portion. The wines were terrific. Dont miss the shop where you can buy Balsamic vinegar, honey and wine all from the property on the Castello. Also dont miss the wild boar proscuitto--melt in your mouth
