Carte Orange still available?

Carte Orange still available?
We are headed to Paris 8/12/2007 and hope to buy Carte Orange for the following 6 days. Where is the best place to buy? We arrive CDG and will take RER to Port-Royal. The apt we've rented is near Luxembourg Gardens (Vavin or Raspails Metro). The RATF website makes it look as though the CO no longer exists and steers English speakers to the Visite Pass. Advice? Most recent CO purchaser?

They've always steered English speakers to the Paris Visite. The best place to buy it is in a metro/RER stop. I assume you're buying a speak ticket for that run from CDG into the city, and only want a zone 2 CO, so Port Royal would be an okay place to buy it.
If your apt. is really near Vavin metro stop, you could get out at Denfert and take the metro to Vavin to be closer. Those are some pretty long blocks between Port Royal and Vavin , but maybe you travel very light.

there have been indications, including some posted here by others, that Carte Orange will be phased out and replaced by some creature only available to Ile de France residents but currently it's the same as it has been for years.
