I have some questions regarding transportation, specifically about the carnet (with 10 tickets).

1. Is it only for zones 1 and 2?
2. Could I use it for the 350 Bus from the airport to Gare du Nord? I know there are 5 zones there, but could I still use the carnet assuming it’s going to deduct “3 billets” as the 350 itinerary map explains? (I’m sorry if I’m not very clear here, but English is my second language)

You simply punch in the number of necessary tickets from CDG to the Gare du Nord. BTW, depending on your ultimate location, you might find it easier to take a different bus (358?) from CDG to Nation.

Thanks Michael, the bus you are suggesting is the 351, but I think the 350 is better for me.
So, I "punch" the number of tickets myself? or the driver does it?

A "carnet" simply means a set of 10 tickets that you buy together at a discount. It can be Zone 1 & 2 (the most popular ones), but it can also be of other zones.

For example, when I led a group of 10 people to Versailles, I bought a carnet of Zone 1-4 tickets.

However, if you're traveling from Zone 5 to 1, you just have to have a valid ticket. I don't think you can just validate 3 or 5 or whatever Zone 1 & 2 tickets and say that's it.

ok, that was exactly what I was asking. What I wanted to do was to buy a carnet of 10 tickets (for the only reason that it’s cheaper that way) let’s say for zones 1 and 2, which would cost 10,90 euros. Then, I wanted to use that carnet for my trip on bus 350 from CDG to Gare du Nord, looking at its itinerary map I see that it says “3 billets pour + 6 sections”. The airport is in section 7 (zone tarifaire 5) and Gare du Nord is in section 1 (Zone tarifaire 1). That way the total cost of that bus ride would be 3,27 euros (for 3 billets or tickets at 1,09 each). Can I do that?.

I assume I can directly buy a ticket from CDG to Gare du Nord but that would be more money than using the card (this is in the hipotecally case I’m allowed to do what’s above), but my brilliant idea (ok, maybe not so brilliant if I can’t put it in practice) was to buy a carnet of 10 tickets (again zone 1 & 2) that I could continue using after that bus ride….

One more thing, can I buy the carnet (or single tickets) at the airport when I arrive?

ps: I remember something else. I also want to go to Versailles, and I would like to do the same thing that I want to do from CDG to Nord, use a carnet (again for the mere reason that it’s cheaper), I know that it would deduct more than one “billet” because Versailles it’s in zone 4 and I’ll be leaving from Champs de Mars that is in zone 1, could I do this” (use the carnet)

tasiburo - You are correct. You can use three billets to get from Gare du Nord to CDG on bus #350. A RER ticket from Gare du Nord to CDG costs E8.10.

According to the RATP Journey planner, it would take two hours to get from Gare du Nord to Versailles by bus and one hour by RER. A RER ticket costs only E2.70.

where in the RAPT website do you see the prices for the itineraries? and I'm going to Versailles from the Paris Hilton that is close to Champ de Mars, what's the cheapest way to get to Versailles? could I use the carnet for this?

Also, if it takes 3 tickets from CDG to Gare de Nord, does that mean that I can buy the carnet of 10 tickets for 10,90 and then it will just deduct the 3 tickets from there for that ride? (on the 350 bus)

I forgot that you were going to Versailles from Champ de Mars. The Journey Planner says that it would take 1hr20min by bus and 32min by RER. The price for the RER would be the same: E2.70.

The RATP site doesn't show the prices for specific Metro and RER trips. I found them at www.transilien.com by clicking on "prix billet par trajet" on the left-hand side of the home page and then entering a departure and arrival station.

I recommend that you buy RER tickets to Versailles and back to Paris. The bus is slow, requires several changes, and would cost nearly as much.

For your CDG to Gare du Nord bus ride, you would remove three tickets from your carnet and then follow Michael's instructions for punching them.

The E2.70 price is each way. The total cost to Versailles and back on the RER would be E5.40.
