Car rental pick-up Sicily drop off Italy

Hello,

I priced out an automatic car rental with a pick-up in Sicily, drop-off in Calabria (mainland Italy). Autoeurope has an estimated $310 on way fee- is that normal?

To find out if it's normal, check with individual car rental co's. Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, etc to see what they charge.
But $300 one way drop off fee doesn't sound abnormal, and since it's only an estimate the actual charge will be added locally when you rent the car. You could also see if different co's have that same fee.
Personally, I'd want to know the total cost up front, and AE will make it clear that charge is out of their hands.

If that fee is too much then consider taking public transportation for part of your trip and doing separate rentals, each with the same pick up/drop off fee.

The one way fee on thrifty is 17 Euros- big difference! But yes, I notice Autoeurope can not definitively tell you the fee, which I don't like.

I am surprised that they allow you to take it on a ferry boat.
