Crellston . . . I didn't. My friend who lives in Essex took the tube down and drove the car back to his place. I'm not an idiot!

Charging the car has been a breeze so far. We charged up at Macdonald's in Leicester. Cost £17. I had to charge again yesterday with a cost of £27. 30-45 minutes charging time. It would have been a lot less if I didn't get confused at rounabouts.

Where would be good place to stay for a family outside of London? We were thinking about Reading or somewhere with a similar distance from London.

Reading is ok if you don’t need to park and avoid the bus lanes. Shopping is fairly good. I suggest looking at Maidenhead - good for trains into London but not brilliant for restaurants depending on what you are looking for. Do you want a town/city or more of a village on a good train route?

BTW- you were more brave hiring an electric car than I would be. I could not be bothered adding on extra time when I travel north and so many people I know have wasted so much time waiting for a charge point to be available. However my personal beef is that so many electric car drivers don’t put on their headlights as required in poor weather conditions to conserve energy…. Grrr
