Car rental Montreal airport - anyone use Ace Rent a Car or NU Car Rental?
Wondering if anyone has used either of these rental companies before at the Montreal Airport (YUL)? I am a bit wary because the prices for these companies are much better than those offered by Alamo, Hertz, Dollar, etc. Thanks!

According to ACE website:
"Renter must provide proof of transferable collision coverage valid in Canada at pickup.
Rates are for airline arriving customers, no local renters."
Translation: our rates do not include even the basic insurance that is required by law. We will not rent you a car without that insurance. You are welcome to make your own way back to the airport if you choose to decline it.
That is why their rates are for suckers, excuse me, for airline passengers only. Local renters have local insurance.
Their prices are "come on" prices. Nobody rents similar products and services for half price.
I avoid small time, Mickey Mouse car rental companies like a plague.

Forget NU, Nu is basically a banner that resells under the Payless banner. Payless Banner also is E-Z rent, Advantage rent a car etc. etc. Its a bait and switch operation. You will get picked up at the airport and brought to their counter and they will refuse to accept your gold card coverage or your insurance transfer and will high pressure you to buy their coverage, inflating your bill with 'Forced extras'
My best experience with YUL airport is going with a broker like www.autoescape.com or www.bsp-auto.com and selecting a provider that has a loss damage included option. No surprises, no hassles. Suppliers are both in airport and off airport. Ive never had a problem with these on line brokers.
Stay far away from NU and all its other incarnations

I rented a car at my car rental Montreal there was an agreement to return the vehicle Saturday morning (times of our flights had been included in the request). on returning the vehicle on the Saturday morning the office was closed. a sign was on the door directing us to econo lodge address, (if we new about this prior, we would have been able to plan our drop of time so we wouldn’t be late for our flight). the address on the door was inputted on the GPS and we were taken to an abandoned lot with a large Econo lodge sign. As there was no further info to go on and we were now running low on time we decided to park the vehicle in the airport econo parking. i called the rental company and left 2 messages and then sent an email. on arrival at our destination i again called the company and spoke to a person who i gave the information to. We had no idea we would be charged an extra $25 for out of ours drop off (usually there is a key drop of box for most companies), then we were surprised to see a $100 charge for out of hours drop off and a $25 charge for parking. I am at a loss as we were originally quoted $99.94 for the rental and are now paying $465! this is outrageous and an unexceptional practice for any company. is there any explanation that can be given for this? They never gave me one!
