Car rental in Scotland
I am renting a car for a week for my Scotland travels and will be returning the rental upon my arrival (for 3 days)in Edinburgh. Would it be wise to return it to the airport or train station and then figure out a way into the city? or should I drive it to one of the locations in the city? I have not made my reservations as of yet and would love feedback and/or advice. Thank you in advance.

WE rented ours from AutoEurope-picked it up a Waverly Station and drove through the city centre and out to the Forth Bridge without a single problem...totally easy! great company-and if you use AutoEurope say hi to Allen-he even gave us a ride to our B&B on his way home!

Ani was starting out from Edinburgh, whereas you are coming into Edinburgh. You could drop your car off in central Edinburgh - but it would be easier in your case to drop it at the airport. You don't need to "figure out a way into the city" - there is a frequent, inexpensive airport shuttle that goes into the very center of the city. The last time I used the shuttle (a couple of years ago) it was 3.50 but I think it is about 5 now. A real bargain.
