One more voice chiming in, yet again, to praise AutoEurope. When we were arrested for speeding in Basilicata, they arranged the car pick up for us. When Air France was on strike in the middle of a trip to France, they rearranged everything for us. I'm all about AutoEurope. Their toll free number assisted us in every aspect of those could-have-been-ruined trips.

Not to self: If I'm planning to get arrested for speeding, be sure to have AE # on hand so they can arrange the pickup...

J62, I can't imagine being in a rental car and not have AE's number on the agreement, and in my files. I've told that awful story here in the past, and didn't feel that my point here needed the entire scenario. I only felt the desire to let the OP and others know that in an awful pinch, AE service can be pretty wonderful.

"Not" to self: if I'm planning on a major airline strike, be sure to have AC# handy so they can help to get me out of the part of France that I planned to leave by air.

Again I agree with J62. The price I got directly from Hertz was higher than AutoEurope each time I checked. Customer service is better also. The use of 0 deductible is also for peace of mind for me. I was questioned about scratches and dings in Ireland and Italy at the return and then they realized there was no deductible and said sorry. No hassle turn key method is worth the difference.

Another question for you who booked with AutoEurope, were you asked to pay extra insurance once you arrived at the counter? We booked all possible insurance with AutoEurope and then the counter lady told us we need to pay another 120e, to be for sure covered

Hertz did not ask us to add any more insurance when we booked through AutoEurope with $0 deductible.

I just book the inclusive rate with deductible and off I go with no worries. For further peace of mind, you can book inclusive with no deductible, of course at a higher rate.

My insurance experience, when needed with Auto Europe has been excellent. My experience with the American Express premium insurance program, when needed, not so good.

Thanks for the advice, Huggy, but I am pretty sure we booked the inclusive with no deductibles and still got asked to pay. So that was odd to us.
