Car rental age limit

We want to rent a car at Heathrow for a few days but are having difficulty determining if the agencies have upper age limits. Some don't mention it at all while others state limits of from 69 to 74. DH is 76, good health, clean driving record, accustomed to left side driving. Anyone know who rents to oldtimers?

I don't know about car rentals but Saga specialise in holidays for over 55's - they should be able to give you advice.

I scanned the Avis.co.uk site for age and could only come up with this.

'Additional charges may also be made by the Local Supplier when you pick up your vehicle if you are under the age of 25.'

'You will need to:

Be aged 23 or over at the date of rental
Have a full, clean driving licence for at least a year
Have a valid payment card for Pay Now rates'

No mention of upper limits at all.

A direct question may be asked here, under contact us.

http://www.avis.co.uk/CustomerService.aspx

This is only a sampling, not an endorsement of Avis.

Hi CR - Try Hertz or National:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/200...oryourholiday1

'For Hertz, provided you have a clear and valid driving licence, there are no age limits in most countries including the UK ...

Another car hire company with no upper age limit is National Car Rental.'

Hope this helps ...

Try www.gemut.com and the UK site of AutoEurope www.auto-europe.co.uk

crckwc1: Try www.nova.co.uk a broker for many of the major car hire companies. Plug in your dates and get a free quote, no hidden charges. You will be ask for the age of the driver.

Have used this site many times and have always been pleased.

AutoEurope rented a car to my 82-year-old father in France, but perhaps it varies by country.

Thank you one and all. It seems we have a few options after all. I learned, too, that Kemwel has agencies that rent to older drivers in Britain.
StCirq, Good for your 82-year-old father!
