Neopatrick and others, thanks for all the info. I had tentatively planned to drop the car in Chartres and try the train. (I haven't been on a train since the 1960's!). If we decide we can handle picking up at Montparnasse, it would certainly be simpler to return there. I was already considering Hotel Saint Beauve (sp) for that last night in Paris anyway.
