CAPRI - Restaurant help please...

My mom, sister and I will be staying for 3 days - great places for dinner and lunch?? Don't mind expensive, if worth it, or some great food where the locals dine...? THANKS

First, spend some time sitting at the cafes in the main Piazetta in Capri Town. Great people watching. There is also a great ice cream shop in the same area, where they make the waffle cones fresh. Unbelieveable.

Our favorite restaurant was La Fontelina which is only open for lunch and is down next to il Faraglioni. it is is a hike, but absolutely worth it. The gnocchi is amazing. We also ate at Aurora which we enjoyed very much and another one that I can't remember right now.

There was one that we really wanted to try but never got back there. It is on the way to the Natural arch and actually right at the top of the long walk down to il Faraglioni. The view at sunset is supposed to be magical. It is very small and casual, but looked wonderful.

Kerryandkatherine-
I think the restaurant that Golfergal may be referring to is Le Grotelle. We had a very nice dinner there. The restaurant itself is built into a cave. They also have outdoor dining terace situated over a cliff. We had beautiful views of the water and the cliffs. The food was very good and the wait staff very friendly. Our hotel made the reservations for us when we arrived at the island and also gave us directions. I think for our meal (for two) with shared antipasto, each with pasta, each with meat course, and shared dessert, it came to about $115.

We visited Capri in October and loved it. One of our favorite spots for lunch was Da Gelsomina on Anacapri. Beautiful location on hillside and delicious food. Ask them to pick you up in town square as the walk is much longer than stated in guide books. We also enjoyed La Campaina and Al Grottino for dinner. We had wanted to go to the well known restaurant in the lemon grove but they were hosting a reception. Ask your hotel for the name and they can also update you on any new places. Everything on Capri is expensive and typical of resort prices. It is well worth it and one of the most delightful spots to visit.
