If everyone in the US felt like StCirq then nobody would vote. And I couldn't care less what France's alledged reasons are for not supporting the US.

Good for you, armand. France isn't the only travel destination in Europe. I don't travel to France, and largely for political reasons. And I won't ever go back to Viet Nam, North Korea, a half dozen slog holes in Africa, the Middle East, and South America. And I don't give a rat's rear end that I am missing something or that in the opinion of some my actions are insignificant. I don't take philosophical stances, as stcirq shallowly suggests, just to impress someone or to have something to brag about.

Stand by your convictions and let the fools laugh.

Italians support US agression against Iraq? Perhaps Berlusconi, but not the majority of the Italian people.

Check this out:
http://www.philly.com/mld/inquirer/news/front/5026892.htm

Uzbekistan looks like its the U.S's strongest ally. So those of you who base your travel decisions on political alliances should start booking your rooms at the Tashkent Hilton NOW.
The French are not failing to support the US, they are failing to support George Bush. Many American's are opposed to Bush's actions as well.

After all, most of us didn't even vote for him.

Keith

That shows the ignorance of the French and liberals. "SH is a proven danger, but we don't like Bush so leave him alone." Good reasoning.

Hmmm...

That shows the ignorance of the Republican right-wing Americans. "OBL is a proven danger, but Bush is too scared to go after him and/or just wants to continue daddy's war so leave him alone". Also, good reasoning.

Do we really need to resort to political name-calling?

opposing a war because of Bush is not a good reason. By that rationale,if democrat were president, they would then support it? Political bandwagons should not matter. Why not protest Hussein AND a war.

Armond, don't cancel your plans just yet.
If the government of France follows its usual principles, it will wring all it can from the U.S. up to the last minute, then "after careful consideration of new and more complete information," reluctantly join any coalition which may have formed by then.

Hi, my last trip was to Germany and France. I admit I had pangs of guilt and my son was mad at me.

I LOVE France. Germany I enjoyed but is not a must return.

I have decided that I have to travel to France for the PASSION side of me which has nothing to do with politics. Life is short and I am middle aged.

I vote in every election and contribute to my party. I have a flag on my porch.

BUT I cannot imagine not going back to France. I love France with my heart if not my head sometimes. France is not just its politics and I love it for the parts that I love. Just as you love relatives for all their good qualities rather than their politics.

Happy travels AND God bless the USA.

Heard a wonderful quote the other day:

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without an accordian."

Wish I could remember the source.

When I heard that France was NOT rushing to join the so-called "coalition", that put them at the top of my travel plans! See you in Paris!

Excuse me, but the French and others waited until the evil in Europe during the 30's and 40's was so strong that they could no longer do anything about it, and hence they needed the USA. They are repeating history. This is not about Bush. If you think it is, you are looking at the wrong guy. It is about saddam. During the 90's, both N. Korea and Iraq built up their nuclear abilities. The evil N. Korea poses is too strong as a result of the past decade. but we can still do something about Iraq. As the most powerful nation on earth, it would be irreponsible not to. I will go to france this summer...

Beatle;
Check this site:
http://www.truthaboutwar.org/claim1.shtml

Wren; Before you take anybody's word at face value that Saddam(Thug that he is)
really has nuclear material you should check your facts, a little better. There is no evidence, whatsoever, that he does have them. That is another good reason to let the inspectors continue to do their work. If you check CNN online today, you will see that it has been found that the documents Powell and Blair referred to on Iraq trying to get enriched uranium from Niger have been found to be all forgeries.

I wish I was going to France right now.
Oh for a nice Pernod sitting in a sidewalk cafe!
I think most readers here are smart enough to notice the Orwellian sound of a web site that calls itself "The Truth About War." Was the site created by the Truth Department?

Operaman continues the Orwell theme by talking about nuclear weapons but leaving out that it's well known that SH has thousands of gallons of biological and chemical weapons that tehy are prohibited from having by terms of the 1991 surrender and League of Nations resolutions.

By Monday the chief apologists for SH at the League of Nations will have their say, then the US will do what it thinks prudent to keep US citizens safe. Then we'll really know what Iraq had and didn't have and I'm willing to bet some of you will be eating your words.

"Thingorjus" is either a joke or a fruitcake.
