can you visit anything with a 4 hour stop over in Milan?

We have a four hour stop over in Milan on our leg home from Italy and wondered if it would be possible to leave the airport to see anything or is it too far away (it is the major international airport). Thanks

Hi jparis, when you say you have a four hour stop over in Milan (Malpensa Airport) do you mean four hours from the time your plane is scheduled to arrive at Malpensa until the time your next plane is scheduled to depart from Malepensa?

IMO 4 hours is a bit tight to get into Milan and back, I would allow an hour at least each way to be safe. I suppose you could go in, and take a taxi or metro to the duomo and galleria, give you a bit of a feel for the historic centre, but it will be a bit rushed.

I think it depends on what happens if you miss your flight home.

Hi

No, I don't think that you will have time. It takes about 1 hour to get to the city and that means that you have 2 hours in town. I would not have done it.

I was just in the Milan area (driving on the outskirts) and would not think about trying to get into the city from the airport. Traffic was AWFUL.

Thanks for all your good advice. Will sit tight at the airport and wait for our connection.
