Can we walk from Civitavecchia train staion to cruise ship

We wil be taking a train from Rome to the train station in Civitavecchia. I know that the entrance to the port is only a 10 minute walk from the station, however can you walk from the port entrance with suitcase to ship ( Celebrity Solstice) or do they have a shuttle to the ship once inside or do we need a taxi. If so any idea of cost . Also how much time should I allow for trip from Rome to the ship.
Thanks

The port is used by ferries to Sicily, Sardinia and Spain as well as being a popular port of call for cruise ships. Your ship might be a long walk from the port entrance.
My only recent experience is of arriving on an overnight ferry from Sardinia when a bus was waiting by the ship to take people to the railway station. I'm sure there is transport within the port for cruise passengers.
Train times are on www.trenitalia.com or www.bahn.de.

GeoffHamer is absolutely correct. It all depends on WHERE within the port area your ship is actually docked. Some cruise lines will provide free transport from the ship to the port entrance; others will not.

I would NOT rely on a taxi to get you from the port entrance to the ship. You may have better success by getting one of the taxis which seem to always be at the railway station to take you all the way to the ship.
