can we cover amalfi coast staying at amalfi town?
hello,
my wife and I are a newly wed young couple and would like to visit the amalfi coast, we've read quite a few threads here about amalfi town, sorrento and positano....different people suggesting which places to stay, we've finally zeroed down on sorrento and amalfi and would like to visit capri, pompei, rovello etc....would like to have your suggestions whether staying at amalfi and covering all these places is feasible or do we necessarily have to make a choice of 2 places to stay?
..also any suggestions about smaller towns that can give us a feel of a truly italian life and ambience are more than welcome
thanks

You could stay in one town, but consider staying in Amalfi to see Ravello & Positano and staying in Sorrento to visit Capri, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Oplontis and Naples, all of which are much easier to get to from Sorrento than from Amalfi. Sorrento is not on the Amalfi coast, by the way.

Amalfi and Positano are very small towns - even Sorrento isn;t that large. They may be called cities - but are nothing like one really. If you mean a tiny village - with only a couple of hundred people - I'm sure there are some back in the hills but not sure how to get there via public transit.

Masa Lubrense area south of Sorrento recently there
Paid $80 for a great sea view room in early May
Otel.com www.hoteldelfino.com best views over Capri Ishia very romantic and cheap
Amalfi town too far away from what you want to see divide your time if you go there
Ravello prettiest Town on the coast all of that coast is cute but very crowded and touristy
Congrats!
