Can I get my passport stamped at train stations?

Our family is going to 8 different countries this summer and I wish we could get stamps in all of the countries, as well. I am hoping some enterprising western Europeans will set up some kind of smail kiosks to put stamps on passports, since I ,for one, would be willing to pay for this kind of souvenir service!

It will be stamped in Italy when landing from outside Schengen countries and also stamped when exiting Germany - so you have only Switzerland and since switzerland is now in the Schengen agreement there are usually no border formalities for common tourists en route. Perhaps take it to the post office in Switzerland and ask them to stamp it like they do postage?

My last trip to Italy a few months ago, they weren't stamping passports.>
then how long do they know you are spending in Schengen - you could easily excede then the legal 3 months (I think 3) for tourists
so if they do not stamp on entry to Schengen at Italy there you could certainly ask the Customs guys to go it - perhaps saying you need some proof of date of arrival besides your plane ticket?

I don't think I'd be getting any unofficial stamps on my passport - isn't this an official government document? Don't the stamps have an official meaning? You could get into some bother when you return, like Wa145nzJeffery, and I'd be keen to avoid that.

kybourbon - so you are saying five years ago they only scanned and not stamped? this question being asked five years ago.
but thank you for the technology update - I would rather demand a stamped date than rely on some digital thing you do not know really what date it put down.
Nevertheless I have had my passport stamped always on entry to Schengen and the U K. Even this year in Amsterdam!

The current question being asked on this thread is from yesterday by Slunson who topped the thread. You responded by saying a passport would be stamped in Italy on landing. Hence my reply. Italy did not stamp our passports in September at FCO arriving from the states.

I'm not sure you can demand anything if they no longer do things that way. Most stamps weren't even legible. My passport did get stamped landing in Amsterdam in 2010, but things change. I won't be surprised if they don't even have stamps at most airports before long.
I do get a Homeland Security stamp returning to the states.
