Can anyone recommend some restaurants, etc. in Rome?
Hi, we will be staying at the Alimandi hotel in Rome and upon our arrival we plan to have an early dinner. Can someone please recommend some nice restaurants in Rome or if you are familiar with the hotel, if you can recommend one near it. Also, I would need to buy a blowdryer (I'm picky about that), does anyone know a place I can find a store which I can purchase one. And the last but not least, how about a gelateria!! We have kids so I know we will be eating a lot of those
Thanks for your responses.

Aren't you a wee bit impatient? 25 minutes for a repost must be a record...
An early dinner will be a bit of a problem in Rome (no one eats before 8:00 p.m.), unless you go to one of the over-priced pizza joints on Borgo Pio.
You're likely to be happier with a dual-voltage blowdryer you buy here; you need to buy a small adaptor (not converter) plug for it, also easier to find here than there.
There are gelaterie all over Rome. The most famous ones are Giolitti (near the Pantheon) and San Crispino (near Trevi, more or less).

My wife and I like light meals in the evening. One restaurant that provides them is Insalata Ricca, a chain of salad restaurants providing really good salads for under $10. If I recall, there's one near the metro stop for the Vatican Museum. Is this close to your hotel?

Yes, our hotel is close the the Vatican Museum. We are on diets so a salad would be perfect! Thanks for your input.
Zerlina, I noticed that this message board is very fast paced to I figure I would get a fast response as I did from you and the other nice poster.

My favorite restaurants in Rome are in the Testaccio neighborhood -- very authentic with lots of Romans. They are:
Perilli al Testaccio, 39 via Marmorata; Has the best pasta carbonara IMHO
Luna Piena, 15 via Luca della Robbia, just around the corner from Perilli
Buon appetito!
