Cambridge, UK - any hotel recommendations for visiting parents?

Hello there -

I am studying at Cambridge this year and my parents will be coming to visit for two days in early November. Can anyone recommend any hotels? Both regular hotel and B&B recommendations would be appreciated.

They would like something close to the center of town with a nice staff. Pricewise, up to 250 pounds a night would be okay, but preferably less.

Thanks very much in advance!!

Stephanie

Hotel Du Vin will be within their price range - admittedly toward the top end of their budget.

Actually, I was going by September prices - Nov will be cheaper, so easily within their budget.

Thank you! Were you happy with your stay there? Or have you heard good things?

Check trip advisor -- the Hotel du Vin is the #1 rated hotel in Cambridge. 85 of the 104 TA reviews are Excellent/Very Good -- which is a VERY high ratio for TA.

If it was w/i my price range, that is where I'd stay. (I usually stay in modest B&Bs or rent self catering cottages)

I haven't stayed at the hotel, but I've eaten there and it was v good!

It is well located for the colleges and town centre - also near the Fitzwilliam Museum (same road, opposite side). It is called a 'boutique' hotel' which over here usually means quite chic/ individual decor, though it's worth pointing out that HDV is a chain.

I work in the Cambridge area, so have tried quite a number of the bars, hotels and restaurants in expenses mode and of my own volition!

I hope someone can also recommend a more affordeable option, to give you a bit more choice.
