Calling London
I am trying to get tickets to see Lion King in March and what I am finding is either saying none available or very steep in price(probably fees). I would like to call the theater direct. What is the best time(economically)to place a long distance call and is it really the best way? Thanks!

Not knowing anything about your long distance plan, I cannot advise you the best time to call. Mind the time difference to the U.K. and call during normal business hours.

Calling the theatre direct is really the best way to go. The Lyceum Theatre has a new phone system that very clunky. Keep hitting 0 until you speak with a person. Do not try the automated ticket purchase option.
I signed up for one of those 1010..numbers and can call the UK for about 9cents a minute. Do a google search for "1010 calls" . The first call you will have to enter an ID number that you are given after that you just dial 1010and whatever the 3 additional numbers are, then your country code and number. it is charged on your local telephone bill.

Prefix the call with 1016868 or 1016400...very very cheap no registration needed....look up the theatre number on a London theatre site...if the number is listed as 020-7555-1212 you dial

1016868-011-44-20-7555-1212 where 1016868 gives you the cheap rate..011 indicated an international call...44 is the country code for the UK...you ignore the leading zero in a UK number when calling from outside the UK...20 is the city code for London....London numbers start with either a 7 for inner London r an 8 for outer London followed by the 7 digit local number....

1016868 is widely available in the US but not quite universal while 1016400 is relatively new. Tell you what you can do to check it out...dial your own phone number from your phone using 1016868-1-areacode-phonenumber. You should, of course, get a busy signal. If you do, then you have the service available to you.

To dial the UK, you dial 1016868 011 44 20 londonphone number (starting with the 7)...do not dial the 0 before the 20 (which is the city code for London)...if you have the service it should work....(of course is it possible the inteernet outage yesterday has some residual effect????)
