calling gracejoan please

I hope this isn't rude but GraceJoan told me to search the egullet forums for up to date restaurant info. I have gone on the site a few times and can't figure it out. It is not as easy as this and I can't seem to get 2008 information. GraceJoan, would you mind contacting me and letting me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks

I'm not Gracejoan... Egullet is just another forum, so you have to just 'troll' it, root around, see what you can unearth.

Try Chowhound - it might work for you a little better..

Travelnut, I was just on Chowhound. Gracejoan had told me there were numerous discussions on Le Comptoir and how it is not quite as good as it was when it first opened.
We were not lucky enough to get dinner reservations there last year but we have them for this May but for the life of me I can't figure out how to get anything but John Talbott's news!

I'm not GraceJoan either, but once you're in the France section at egullet, scroll down until you see "Enter Keywords" in a box, enter Comptoir, and click "Search forum".

A friend told me that I was being paged!

Above info is correct. When you get to the French forum, scroll down to the 2nd section and you will see "current" discussions.

Enjoy you dinner reservations. Most do enjoy it. It can be crowded, they do "turn" tables. Others feel that there are so many really excellent places to dine in Paris that they are "turned off" by this sort of thing. The same goes for "Spring". The other objection to Spring is that there are no selections...just your luck for it to be something that is just not to your liking!!

Play around with the e-gullet site. It is probably the premier site for those who enjoy excellent food.

I will be in Paris for the last half of April.

Enjoy your dining and have a great trip..........

Joan

Joan, thanks for responding to the page! I will try your suggestions and report back. May I ask for your list of restaurants for the April trip once you've finalized it? Thanks

I am taking my granddaughter and her husband in April for a week and then I will be on my own. I am trying to give them a variety..they are first timers.

I have made reservations for our arrival night. La Regalade. It is a busy/popular place convenient in the 14th. I would definitely call ASAP if you want a reservation. Are you familiar with the 1010 dialing numbers....very inexpensive...you can google for them.

I have also made reservations for us at Au Gourmand. They moved a year ago and are in the 1st. 17 rue Moliere. I would definitely call them. It is a very nice restaurant. I am sue that you will be very pleased dining there.

I plan on taking the kids to Ze Kitchen, Le Florimond, l'Epigramme. Will pick one in Montmartre and may try Bouillon Racine.

If you are an oyster person Huitre Regis is a must...tiny, tiny..they open at 11:30...I would be there!! What can be better tha fresh oysters, good bread and wine.

I have some others on my list when I move to the 7th..always the Constants..they have their group. I am going to give Chez Catherine a try. Also going to the bar in Le Meurice..here it is a great place for a light something..I happen to like l'Obelisque in the Hotel Crillon..might do...thinking of lunch a Taillevent..always on my list. It will be so very sad without M. Vrinat. They have a great 70 euro lunch! Le Meurice and Les Ambassadeurs have them too...I think a bit more.

I would make some dining reservations ahead for some of the places. I have more to do...

Enjoy........

Joan
