Calling all Turkeys!
I am looking for accommodation in Istanbul and am trying to decide between Sultanahmet Palace Hotel and Hotel Arcadia.

They are both apparently 4 stars. The tour guides (which were recommended on a Fodor's thread, thank you) we are using, can get a deal at the Acadia and it would cost about $50 -75 less for a suite than at the Sultanahmet.

Anyone stayed at either or both? Comments, opinions, please, please, please.

The Blue House has also been recommended and is in the Sultanhamet area. We stayed at the Hotel President and it was in the same area but not as close. It was OK. There is a tram you can catch in that area and ride very easily and cheaply to the main sights.

I would have to second the Blue House. We stayed there Oct. 2001 and received fantastic treatment. I can't say enough good about it. However I have to say this may have been special treatment due to the hotel being unusually quiet at the time due to world events.

Rooms at the Blue House were nice, clean but not extravagent. Bathrooms were recently remodeled(in bright blue) and very clean.

Rooftop Terrace is fantastic as well our room had a incredible view of the Blue Mosque(ask when booking).

We were to spend the first 3 nights at the Blue House and the last 3 at the Obelisk and Sumengen. 5 minutes in our room at the Obelisk and Sumengen and we already missed the Blue House and were headed back to it.

derek

We ;checked out the Blue House while there around 14 May and their rate was $140 for a double, I could have booked it for $125 via the internet from home but wanted to see if we were given a better price when actually there.
Actually the Blue House isn't all THAT great, nice lobby but..... We found the Side Hotel a much better bargain $50, right next to the 4 Seasons at around $400 a nite for a double. The Side is one of those best kept secrets, clean good size room with TV, Bfst the samae as most places Cucumbers, Tomatoes, egg, olives and bread. Side has a web site so you can view the rooms sbut of course the pics don't really do it justice.
