Buying train tickets Interlaken to Florence

Hello,
I need some help with buying train tickets traveling from Interlaken to Florence. I use sbb.ch site and it does not have accurate schedule for 6/23/10. I have some ideas of the fare and schedule if I put in the date for 6/10/10. What are my options to buy the train ticket for this travel segment. Can I buy it when I'm in Munich prior to traveling to Interlaken? What other travel agencies I can use to purchase train tickets traveling from Switzerland to Italy? It seems tricky to buy tickets to go to Italy when I'm in the US.

Thanks,

I don't have any problem putting in the 6/23 date, but there are lots of train changes.

Hi Kybourbon - sbb.ch shows some schedules for 6/23 travel date but they have a lot of changes and take 13 hours or so. If I put in 6/10 travel date, there are a lot more reasonable duration and connections. According to bahn.de site, traveling from Interlaken to Florence has some durations that take from 5h30 or 6h. I would prefer shorter duration and fewer connections.

Perhaps they don't have all their summer schedules updated yet. Most railways in Europe change schedules mid-June so some trains may be entered while others aren't yet. I see the train you are talking about with only 3 connections. Price them separately on 6/23 and you will get what you want. Just make sure you allow time to change trains (look at the train #'s for the 6/10 trains you want and make sure you are booking the same #'s). Interlaken/Spiez, Spiez/Milan. I would just buy the Milan/Florence upon arrival in Milan. There are lots of connections between Milan and Florence and you might want to take a break in the station to grab a bit to eat since you will have been traveling several hours.

kybourbon - thanks for your suggestion of booking Interlaken to Milan and Milan to Florence.

The problem appears to be on the Trenitalia end as they update schedules the end of this week. If you enter Interlaken/Milan, you will get that ticket connected on 6/23, same as 6/10. The problem occurs when you add Florence.

Opps. Just got a pop-up on SBB that said maintenance is going on for the international bookings. Try tomorrow.

The international booking and reservation systems are currently unavailable due to maintenance work. It is therefore not possible to call up price information or to purchase international tickets.
Thank you for your understanding. Please try again later.
