buying tickets to the Sistine Chapel

Can one buy tickets in advance to the Sistine Chapel on line? We will be there in September, 2007.

Thank you mzldc for your response. I went online but it doesn't appear that I can buy a ticket online for the Vatican museums now. It appears that maybe one can do it if they try more than a month before they arrive.

You cannot buy Vatican Museum tickets in advance on-line. You just have to wait in line like everybody else.

Unless you go with one of the guided tours.

You can't buy tickets online, you need to fax a request. You cannot buy tickets for just the Sistine Chapel but for the whole Vatican Museum Tour.

There should still be plenty of time. Bear in mind, they don't fax you back the confirmation until a couple of days before hand. So you need to have a fax number that you can direct the confirmation to, such as a hotel in Rome etc.

This is a great thread on all the ins and outs of making the reservation. I thoroughly recommend doing the tour. It saved hours of lining up and the guide was excellent - great value.

Awhile ago, I started a thread here asking if anyone had ever missed out on the Vatican Tour and I don't think anyone ever has.

Good Luck
