Buy Bayern tickets online ahead ?
We’ll be making two trips on definite dates using Bayern tickets - Rothenberg ob der Tauber to Munich and Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen three days later.
I know we could buy tickets on the day at the station, but I like to make things as easy as possible for us when travelling, so would it be a good idea to buy them online before we leave home?

Hi jacooper,
Sure, you can do that -- but it's like buying a ticket for the subway in advance
You can buy them at the DB website
www.bahn.com
But it may be better, if you'll have a smart phone with you, to download the DB app, and you can buy and store the tickets, and then use it to display the tickets to the conductor. You only need to have a connection (WiFi or data) to buy the tickets; you don't need to be connected when you show the tickets to the conductor.
Be careful when inputting your dates -- remember that in Europe, we use day-month-year format, so 12 Sep is 12/09.
Have fun as you plan!

For the trip from Munich to Garmisch, you can use the Regio-Ticket Werdenfels.
It's limited for connections to that part of Upper Bavaria on regional trains only (just like the Bayern Ticket).
But it does NOT come with the restriction of traveling only after 9am on weekdays.
And it's a bit cheaper than the Bayern Ticket.
Unfortunately, I cannot find any English language info on this offer but this flyer:

Thanks All
Yes, I saw the Werdenfels ticket option. It says something about it not including local transport at your destination, but I don’t think that would matter for us on our arrival day.
