Buses in Salzburg/Salzkammergut Ticket info
As my trip approaches in 6 weeks (yikes) I'm sitting here with all these schedules and stuff wishing I had the same pass we used in Switzerland. One site said that you don't pay the driver of the bus, you must buy tickets at a tabac store. HUH? We will be using the bus 150 quite a bit from St Gilgen. Is it flat fee...will somebody help me with the ticket thing? Thanks!

In Austria it is common to buy your passes at a Tabac (Tobacco store) that are generally near the stops. You can also buy bus tickets at the machines at the bus stops and then validate them on the bus/train.

The bus journey is divided into zones - so the price depends on how far you are going. You can buy a single journey ticket - Einzelfahrkarte
A day ticket- Tageskarte
Or if you are indeed travelling regularly a Wochenkarte or a Monatskarte.
It is not necessary to stress about the bus. They are regular and cheap and in the part of Austria where you are going, many people will speak english and will help you.
