The (Spanish) bus line that operates on that route is DAMAS. Last year they just had two buses daily (from Huelva), one at 09:00, the other at 18:00. If you can get direct service, it will probably take some 3-hours.

Try a google search on DAMAS

Lenne,
According to the Damas web site, there's no direct bus service-you need to change busses in Huelva.
Here's the Sevilla-Huelva schedule:
www.damas-sa.es/cgi-local/busca.pl

You can take the 15:30 or 16:30 to link up with the 18:00 Huelva-Faro bus.

As Ned says, there are only 2 Huelva-Faro busses per day-just that 18:00 afternoon bus.

The Seville-Huelva trip takes 1 1/4 hrs. and costs almost 6 euros. The Huelva-Faro route takes 2 1/2 hrs. and costs 4,75 (this is courtesy of Let's Go Spain/Portugal '03)

A taxista in Sevilla told us last July that there was a new bus service direct from Sevilla to Faro & Lagos. I saw some billboards: I thinke it's called 'Algarve-Direct' or something like that. It's probably not DAMAS (I have last Summer's DAMAS schedule here in front of me).

ann2: There's no rail line beyond Huelva (Spain) unless they extended it since last July (2002).

The railway used to run beyond Huelva to Ayamonte which is across the river from Vila Real in Portgugal, but it was closed several years ago and Ayamonte railway station has been converted into a bus station. If the through buses are not convenient, Damas run to Ayamonte from where there are local buses as well as a frequent ferry to Vila Real. There are frequent Portugese buses from Vila Real and it is also the start of the railway to Faro, etc. The Portuguese bus company, EVA, also run buses into Spain (www.eva-bus.com).

I have been interested in this information also. I found this web link which appears to be current. There are ticket stubs which indicate direct bus service from Seville to Faro and Seville to Lagos. Hope this is correct as I too will be depending on this...

The timetable on the website given in the last response is run by Damas and EVA. It's almost certainly a high-season service, so will probably not be running now. If there is no through bus, it is easy to get any other Damas bus to Ayamonte, then cross to Vila Real in Portugal where there are trains and buses on to Faro. I was there on Christmas Day and missed the last ferry from Ayamonte so took a taxi to Vila Real, but even that cost only 12 Euros.
