Burgundy troubles! Help!

Hello again

I will be in Burgundy starting TOMORROW and I have reserved nothing. I will be near MACON.
Could someone PLEASE recommend a plan (winery tours, B & B's....I need it all)

I may or may not have a car. Should I get one????

Thank you
Eddie

Go to the tourist office in Macon and ask your questions.

Do you think I am really stuck? I'm pretty adaptable! I once slept in a gyro shop...
But my wife is with me now! Different story, to say the least!

Thanks

For a place to stay, try Logis de France: they have associated hotel-restaurants throughout France. We've used them for travel through some small towns and have found them to be a good resource.

www.logisdefrance.com
- choose your language, then type your town into the search box...

You're fine. Don't worry. Get there and find a place. No problem. There will be many choices this time of year. As Vedette said, ask at the touris office about tours, etc.

Am I fine with being near Macon?

Is there a lot of great stuff around there?

I'm looking for the French experience. Would like to get out of the way.

Thanks

Be sure to see the old village Brancion which is very close to Macon. There are tenth-century castle ruins as well as a restored church (St Pierre - twelfth century) and beautiful views of the valley. There are several medieval houses and one is a hotel which serves lunch. They are doing much restoration work to the castle ruins - may even been finished by now. We loved this place - so much we returned five years later and were so surprised to see all the work that was being done.

Other favorite places in Burgundy:

Vezelay - our most favorite!
Abbeye du Fontenay - so beautiful!
Flavigny (movie Chocolat)

We stayed in Beaune at Hotel Grillon which was very nice. And in Vezelay at Hotel de la Poste. Hope you have a great time in Burgundy - we have always loved Burgundy! Do rent a car as you need one to see these small villages.

The guy has another thread going where he says he will be in Provence next week and he's confused about that too! Is he on the level?

Did someone send you off on a surprise trip as some kind of game, or what?

C'mon guys, give Eddie a break...you just have to give him the benefit of the doubt..there are the vast majority of travelers that make last minute hap-hazard plans...we more experienced, worldly travelers are here to help them..not to chastise them. I answered his other thread with tact...and I've lost nothing by it!

No, I am totally serious.
ON Thursday, I leave for France.
My wife and I are in Paris for a couple of days and then are heading south.

She knows nothing of this chaos.

Anyway, I've heard Burgundy is more boring than enjoyable. Could that be true?

Anyway, should I just bag Burgundy completely and head south to Aix or St.Remy or something?

Thanks
Eddie

Eddie: I posted to your other thread and suggested St. Remy..perfect base for you. Yes, I would skip Burgundy and concentrate on Provence...take the TGV from Gare Lyon and you'll be in Avignon quickly..rent a car at the TGV station...Provence is much more attractive in my opinion. You'll get a good flavor for France in that way. Enjoy!
