Has anyone stayed at the Southwark Rose Hotel in London? Seemed ok and reasonably priced, but I wanted to hear some opinions. Alternatively, how about the Premier Lodge in Southwark; same price, about the same location.

But back to the topic, has anyone stayed at any of the budget hotels in this area, particularly the Southwark Rose?

Have a look at the Travel Inn County Hall. A better location south of the river I think.

I was considering that, but they don't seem to have A/C, which I think will be important in August. Southwark Rose is cheaper, and has A/C.

Before you book, make sure all the rooms (or at least the room you're booking) has A/C. Sometimes hotels will advertise A/C but all their rooms don't have it, or just the common areas have it.

However, the other great choice is Priceline. I just landed a great deal on the Holiday Inn London - Kensington Forum. I got the hotel for only $72.00 per night (Yes, US Dollars). On Holiday Inn's website, it is 106 pounds per night with two nights at 84 pounds.
