Budapest to Vienna drive

Hello Everyone. Thank you for all the help as always.
I will be in Budapest over Christmas and New Year's and was planning a short trip to Vienna. I had thought about Prague at first, but I think the drive may be longer than if we go to Vienna. Any idea how long the drive to Vienna would be?
Thanks!

Hi,

Havent done this myself, but did look into it once. It takes around 2 hours, if I remember right. Vienna is magical during Christmas time, so a visit will definitely be well worth it, IMHO.

Taking the train may be cheaper and more convenient.

I tried to find a price for the trip, and either I don't get a price, or it comes out to over 100 Euros in second class. I expected it to be much less to take a train from Budapest to Vienna.
Any thoughts?

I'm not sure of that particular train. I travelled Budapest to Novi Sad in July in 1st class and it was about $70 per person. That was with a ticket purchased through raileurope.com before we left the U.S. It probably would have been cheaper to buy it there. Good luck.

You can get heavily discounted tickets from Budapest to Vienna for 13 EUR (one-way).
I'm not sure of the exact requirements, but there are some: eg. you have to buy them in advance...
