Well in reality they are frenched fries - the name 'french' in french fries having zero to do with the country France but with the way taters are cooked - the frenched way thus french fries.

The U.S. Congress was thus ignorant of this when they re-named french fries 'freedom fries' in the House cafeteria during the Gulf War when the French refused to join the Crusade.

What does 'frenched' mean in regard to frites? I have heard of frenched lamb shanks, where the meat is scraped back off the leg, but never 'frenched fries'.

Where does the term frenched fries come from.?

I never heard of this before.
What happens to fries when they are"frenched."?

Do not forget the breads and pastries, they are world class as well.

In May we stayed at the

A little out of the way, but hip and modern.

I just found this article which talks about 'frenching' (cutting in long thin strips). But it sounds like it comes from the people who invented frites anyway... good article.

Heck I will never look at fries again in the same way.!!!

I should have toured the Frites Museum in Bruge a few months back but I just walked by eating my sugar waffle.!!

I also SHOULD have toured the Frites museum also but just walked by eating my BELGIAN fries with mayo carrying my little bag of Belgian chocolate!!!

Frankly that is what Belgium is good at - food! If you ate well in Belgium then you got it!
