Brugges hotel
Can anyone please tell me anything about Hotel Wilgenhoff, Polderstraat 151, 8310 St.-Krais. Where is it? Is it good? How far is it from what we will want to see in Brugges? Thanks for any information/advice.

8000 is the zip code of the historic center of Brugge, the city within the walls.
8310 Sint-Kruis (with a U) is a adjacent village, now part of the agglomeration.
There should be public transport. Try and ask the hotelmanager if "De Lijn" (the public transport system) passes close by the hotel, which means 2 busses per hour to the city center. It is a 10-15 minutes bustrip to the city center and they keep driving till about 23h00. Maybe your hotel has bicycles at your disposal, which is not uncommon in Brugge. (Sorry, but I can't check it from here).
I don't know about the hotel. I try to find out.
Have you tried hotels in the city center?

Am back again. Went to the website.
The map is not very precise, especially in relation to the distance between the city border and the hotel situation. It might be a 10 minutes walk to the busstop.
Going to visit Brugge with your car, if you would have one, is nonsense. Allthough the setting is very nice, you should be aware that this hotel is not the easiest solution to stroll in Brugge. Would suit better for discovering the countryside with a car.
But it seems very cosy. And I don't know what you are looking for, after all...

St. Kruis is about 20 min. by bus (bus # 6 or 11) to Brugge.
I agree with the previous poster that this location is not so convenient if you want to explore the city of Brugge.
If you have a car though, there is no problem visiting Brugge by car. There's a very huge parking lot (2.5 euro per 24 hours) next to the train station. When you show your parking ticket at the bus ticket booth in front of the station, you will get free bus tickets to get into the city centre (valid 24 hrs on all buses going to/from the centre/station).

For a very nice high end hotel check out the Prinsenhof. Excellent hotel located right in heart of old city. It is great, but expensive. May be out of your price range but check it out. Probably starts at about 130 euro for a double room or more.

If you are staying in Brugge sometime in August, hop down to Zeebrugge to see an amazing, beautifully detailed sandcastle model of Brugge. They just showed some of it on CNN and the artistry of the model is astounding. It is supposed to last through August.
