Bruges, Belguim - where not to stay

I have cut and pasted my review of the Hotel Europ in Bruges, Belguim below and you can note that I said that I booked through Priceline.com which requests a review ( sometimes) from customers and will not print one that is unsolicited.
I made the mistake of not checking the reviews on Trip Advisor about this particular hotel as the Priceline review gave it 10 out of 10 in all aspects - but there was only one review there. My fault I know but I hope that I can ensure that others are not as silly as me.
This is my review cut and pasted:
View from window was of the brick wall on the next door building just a few feet away. No screen on the window so you have a plug in electric thingie to use in case of bugs. The bed was 2 single wooden slat based camp style beds with a 4 inch vinyl covered matresses which were held together with a large sheet but which did not stop you from falling into the split in the middle during the night and lying on the hard wood base.
All this for $124 US.
Probably the worst value for money in any hotel anywhere in the World.
I booked through Priceline.com and the review there gave it all 10 out of 10 so it proves that those reviews are worthless and one should look further afield for more than one review.
You might as well be in a cheap hostel.

<< No screen on the window >>

I've never seen window screens in Europe. This is not special for Brugge nor for this hotel.

The lack of screen is not really an issue unless of course you mind that people can easily get into your room, the bed was the main issue. Surely one can expect a real bed in a real hotel and not a camp stretcher.

A screen isn't going to keep people out.

thursdaysd: It most certainly will if its a security screen. Perhaps Europeans live either with all windows locked and shut or without the niceties the rest of the World enjoys i.e. good beds.

Not sure what you mean by a security screen. I thought you were talking about the kind of screen used to keep bugs out, which where I live (North Carolina) are pretty flimsy. If you really want to keep people out you need one of those metal blinds they're using instead of shutters these days - in Europe.
