I find it so funny how lots of Americans always think British people are awfully posh and that we all walk around saying things like "bloody nice chap", "jolly good" and "oh, I say!". I suppose it is just the perception that is enforced by film stars like Hugh, Liz et al. However, I can assure you that we don't all stop for cream teas at 3pm or drive around the countryside in our Burberry scarves and Jaguars, in just the same way that all Americans are not called Chuck, drive 4x4 trucks, or have big white houses with a verandah and an American flag flying high!

You just can't beat the simple taste of Scottish shortbread.<BR><BR>Not traditional, but they seem to go for jacket potatoes and with interesting toppings which are delicious. Great combination I had on my Feb. trip was sour cream mixed with mashed avocado<BR>over a jacket potato.<BR><BR>Hey, guess what? I read in a business magazine last week that Pret a Manger is scheming to expand stateside in a big way.

It's not British per se, but we were surprised and delighted by how much great pizza there is in London.

There is an inn near Omagh in Northern Ireland that serves the very best Ulster Fry Up for breakfast. Local sausage, bacon ,eggs, potato bread, fried mushrooms, homemade jam and tea. Divine and heart-blowing. But especially welcome after a night of whiskey and beer.
