Bring or rent skis to Switzerland?

Sorry -- forgot to say it --

If you rent the "exclusive" or "premium" levels, you will not be getting wet boots and dull skies. I doubt you'd get that even if you rented at the "economy" level either.

We don't even schlep it to Colorado these days!! Just a thought!! And a thousand isn't hard to add up to--it might get "lost".
How about baggage limits/extra fee?

I'm looking for a good reasons (details) to leave it all at home in Houston, TX

Assuming that you do not generally drive for your skiing outings, I see no difference between taking the equipment on a plane to Switzerland or somewhere in the States. On the other hand, public transportation in Switzerland vs. renting a car in the States might be the deal breaker.
