Bremen area to Netherlands
We are new to Bremen and guests are coming to visit, so we want to show them a great time. One of our guests is only 7, and doesn't like long car journeys. So we are hoping to find nice places to stop on the way to the Netherlands and back. We will have 3 days to spend all together, and are renting a car. All comments welcome!

Hi; I think you are interested in Amsterdam. From Bremen it is about four hours. A mid-point would be to stop for a few hours in Groningen, a large city, but an interesting waterfront that the 7 year old might like. Enjoy iris1745/dick

Papenburg on the Ems with the Meyer-Werft - the shipyard where they build those large cruise ships.

West of Bremen is the Freilichtmuseum Cloppenburg, which is an open-air museum with historical farmhouses from all over Niedersachsen. There are guidebooks to the museum in English. I think that would be on the way to the Netherlands and would amuse the 7 yr old too.

Another vote for Papenburg. It is not only the shipyards - a tour is most recommendable - but it is also a beautiful historic town.
Close to Papenburg, just across the border in the Netherlands, you find Bourtange, a historic fortress which is worth visiting.
