Um, I'm all for less-expensive. I'm the one who took a group of 4 to Britain for 3 weeks for $2500.

I believe the San Francisco GTG is tonight. It will be fun to hear about.

Oh yes! The SF GTG was a resounding success! There's a separate thread running in the top 50 somewhere that gives some details--its title is something like "Thank you KirRoyale and Marilyn." We've had two GTGs in SF now, the first was at a restaurant, the second in a private home. If anyone in the Boston area will volunteer to host a bunch of convivial strangers, I'd advise you to go for it. It's so much easier to mingle in a home than in a restaurant.

I have a slight conflict for the planned date, too -- I'm hosting a major get-together at my home next day. I suspect that January would have fewer conflicts for more people.

Count us in. My husband is retiring in 2 weeks and we are looking forward to increased travel. We can share our experiences in France and Italy and we're leaving for Spain in November. Pretty much any time or place will work, and I realize that any date chosen will cause conflict with someone. Keep us informed. I'm looking forward to sharing travel stories!

I would be interested. Almost any date would be okay for me. I live northeast of Boston, but any location within about a 20 mile radius of the city would be okay.

The only thing I ask is that the GTG be held as a luncheon on a weekend afternoon, since I would rather not be driving at night.

Goggone it! I was just in Boston for the 3 game series between the Sox and the hated Yankees. Wish the get-together had been during that time. Maybe we can have one next year when we beat the &%@#*?!! and advance to the World Series to play the Cubs.

Jinx, you've definitely got the right spirit to be a Sox fan!

Is Upstairs on the Square the place that has the zebra wallpaper and pink carpeting? I have heard good things about it from my sister.

Count me in, too. The holidays are a tough time with all the parties and holiday preparations so perhaps the January suggestion is a better timeframe. I'm game for anywhere. There are lots of Boston posters on the US and Caribbean boards who may be interested as well.

we lost this thread about a month ago.....the hectic season is approaching. let's all agree to January for a GTG. Is MetroWest good for most all...perhaps the 495/mass pike interchage area?? (rather than downtown)

I'm interested also - unless it snows. I dislike driving in the snow, dislike the cold, dislike the darkness of winter - I guess I dislike winter! Hopefully, it will be a good day!
