Born shoes- any fans?

Came across these today at Macy's- brought home 2 pairs to try.

First is Conlin, a mary-jane style. Other pair is Palmera, a lace-up. Both in a cool gold/silver mix.

I've been wearing them around inside the house, and I'm surprised that they don't feel more padded, esp under the ball of the foot. I often hear these mentioned as shoes that can be worn all day, so- how do you all like Borns? Will they be good for all-day use during a trip?

I have worn them but there others that I think are more comfortable. I wear Josef Siebels and my daughter swears by Mephisto, and my friend's choice is Ecco...I would try them all before I would buy two pair and take them on a trip especially if they are bothering you this soon.

So funny that you would start a thread about these shoes. I RAVE ABOUT THEM. I have problem feet, always have, usually I wear flip flops unless it is very cold, because walking around like I do, every other shoe causes blisters on my feet, or causes my feet to ache, including most athletic shoes. Even my orthopedist said, your high arches were not made for long walking! However the Borns I had with me on this latest long trip, which is part of a round the world trip, took me all over India, Nepal and Dubai, where I climbed straight up the highest Tibetan Buddhist temple in Kathmandu-with no aching feet-EVER!

So I'm sold on them-in fact, I just tried on a pair of Born sandals for 30.00 at TJ Maxx-I'm hoping they are still there-because the other part of my round the world trip will be coming up in a couple of months-and I will be walking all over Croatia, Estonia and St. Petersburg/Moscow in them. I was thinking of the Born Mary Janes, but I think I'm going to go with the thong sandals-one thing is for sure, I'll have to have at least one pair of lightweight Born sandals and shoes-from now on out!

P.S. As to my slip on Borns-I put in a Dr. Scholls gel insole, and that made them even more comfortable, you might want to try it, and see how that works out, in terms of padding.

My Dansko Courtneys rarely were off my feet during our month long trip to France and Italy last year. I have high arches and frequent back problems and these shoes were awesome.

I also have high insteps, and wide feet. I prefer Birkenstocks & Mephistos. Joseph Siebels also work. Birkenstock shoes, like Footsteps, are very well padded (cork soles) but firm enough for cobble stone streets. Some Mephistos are too low-cut for my insteps.
I have tried on Born's but they look kind of clunky, and they seem rigid & stiff, so if the fit is not perfect, they'll rip the skin off your feet.

I have a couple pairs of Born shoes and love them. I have trouble with their sandals though because I have high arches and the sandals usually have a strap across the highest part and I can't get them. I just bought a pair of Wolky sandals for a trip to Paris in a couple weeks. I'll report back on them. I also like the Aravon brand, they are made by New Balance (I also have their walking shoes). I've also had great luck with Clarks and Softies.

The shoes you bought are cute, I hope they work for you!

I've never been able to find a pair of Borne that fit properly. I have problems with my feet and go for complete comfort. Clarke's clogs and Merril's slip-ons have always been the best for my needs.

I've yet to find a pair to buy, but from trying them on in the store, they didn't seem to have enough support or be a soft as they looked like they should be.

Also I would probably not take 2 pair of the same brand of shoe on a trip. Better to switch it up.

Myself, I've have good luck with Merrell for slip on mocs and Naot for sandals.

wow, you all have been on some fantastic trips! And now I have a list of other brands to look at.

By the way, I was only going to keep one of the pairs! And they don't have removable insoles, so I can't take them out and try the Dr. Scholl's.
