Borghese gallery close from 10/11-10/17

I have been trying forever to make reservations at the BG for Oct. I finally decided to call their reservaton line and I can't believe how easy it was. They said they will be close form Oct 11 through 17. Great, that left the arrival day for us and I jumped at the chance. No matter how tired we will be, it doesn't matter. We get to see the gallery. I feel bad for other travelers that will miss the gallery. I can't wait.

molly, the Galleria Borghese is located in the Villa Borghese, a very large and beautiful park. It is a wonderful gallery and my personal favorite. The gallery not overly large but full of the most beautiful sculpture you will ever see (mostly Bernini). Do a search for it for more information. You must have reservations because entry is limited.

mrsjoujou, we went the day of arrival and still enjoyed it immensely. Definitely go for it!

Have a wonderful trip! I envy you both . . .

Will the Borghese gardens be closed as well? We will be in Rome those exact days and had so hoped to see BG.
Thank you.

Closing the Borghese Gardens would be like closing Central Park. No, they won't be closed.

mrsjoujou,

Fortunately the museum is small and you can wander slowly through the rooms, it won't be like trying to see the Louvre on your first day in Paris. You will love it.

We visited the Borghese gallery our first day in Rome and it worked perfectly. We got in early in the morning, took a short nap and then headed to the gallery. Afterwards, we wandered the gardens and meandered back to our B&B. It was a wonderful start to the trip and it is still a highlight of our last trip.

We were disappointed that we can't go this time since we'll be in Rome Oct 15-17. Guess we'll just have to go back sometime.

Just checked the booking website and from today you can book tickets for october (but not the days they're closed of course). If you're booking far in advance you need to give them a call.
