Just returned two weeks ago. No charge for booze transatlantic.
In fact, a fellow in front of us was given one beer after another, and a bunch of 20-somethings were served beers with their breakfasts!
You do have to beg for ice, though. Otherwise, it's the European "one cube per drink" ration.

We fly Lufthansa on a regular basis from the US to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to Kuwait and they've always offered alcohol at no charge - just like every other international carrier we've ever flown (although some Middle Eastern airlines don't serve alcohol at any price due to the Muslim population)
Beware of the Lufthansa food though....ugh.

The worst airline food I ever had was on Malaysia Airlines flying from Taipai to Vancouver...They served these boiled chicken balls, it was disgusting!! But generally, I don't find airline food that bad..maybe it's just me or I have just had good experiences..!!

Airline food is usually what you expect it to be-awful.
We expected the same for Lufhansa's food last year. However, we were very pleasantly surprised that it was good (edible) unlike some other airlines' food (Air France and British Airways in my opinion).
And just another thing about Lufthansa: their flight attendants are actually helpful and polite unlike the other two above-named airlines'.
