Booking with Evan Evans tours?
We arrive in London on Monday, Sept 12th. I'd wanted to book my Stonehenge/Bath tour for the Tuesday further in advance but my travel companions hadn't given a clear "yes" or "no" til now, so unfortunately Astral Tours was booked up by the time I tried to book yesterday (Thursday).
I've just booked with Evan Evans online, however it didn't ask for any credit card info, so I assume it will charge me on the day of? The site asked me to phone them upon my arrival in London to confirm my booking.
Has anyone had experience booking with them online and can tell me what to expect? My concern is that I'll phone them when I get into town and it'll have been booked up and not had enough time to go to another company.
Serves me right for doing it last minute!

I haven't used Evans Evans (nothing against them - just don't do many tours of any kind) but they do have a very good reputation and have been around for ages.
If It were me and if I was the least bit nervous (and it sounds like you are because you are having to shepherd the others around) - I wouldn't wait. I'd pick up the phone and call them to make sure everything is in order . . . .

Thanks janis. I did eventually receive a couple of print out tickets, so that's a good sign. However, I think I will take your advice and make some confirmation phone calls not only for the tour, but other things I have booked.

Have done 2 of those Evan Evans day trips out of London - since they were combo trips you couldn;t easily do by rail. Many people book them the day before. Have never seen one full.
The guides - esp if it's a multi-language tour - tend to be least common denominator - but perhaps if you ask a lot of questions they actually know more than they ordinarily say.
I was using it bascially for the transport - and for that it was fine.

We used Evan Evans a couple years ago to do a Windsor Castle tour. Like you indicated we booked on-line and received the tickets and didn't pay until we were in London on the day of the tour.
We were picked up at our hotel and driven to the bus station. You were then pointed to the ticket window where you paid and given you "real" ticket.
Have a great time in London. It's one of my favorite cities.

I was very pleased with the Evan Evans day trip I took to the Cotswolds the end of July. I booked online through British Airways and was able to print out a voucher for the tour. I had a great experience, even though I was traveling to Europe, alone, for the first time. The tour guide was very helpful in pointing out places that we could explore on our own and I met lots of people. The bus was clean and well-maintained. I would recommend that you call to confirm as soon as you arrive, as I did. By the way, I had also booked a tour with Premium Tours for the next day but there was a problem with my reservation even though I had called to confirm. They did straighten it out, but I was very happy that I had two copies of my voucher since one mysteriously disappeared after I handed it to one of their representatives as I boarded the bus. I enjoyed the tour (to Bath/Windsor/Stonehenge) but Premium seemed a little less organized than Evan Evans. Also, Premium sent bus transportation to my hotel to pick me up, but there was another company's name on the side of the bus so I almost didn't get on! Enjoy your tour - and London - I can't wait to go back!
