Although this is an old thread, I thought I'd share my experience, since it was so positive. We had a wonderful experience on our stay last week. We were there [Hotel Bonaparte] for five nights, and it was better than I expected. Considering that it is very reasonable for the area [our double room was 119 total, including taxes], and included breakfast [coffee, tea or hot chocolate along with very fresh croissant and baguette] it is truly a remarkable deal for the area. I never saw a sign of the cat [or any other pet, for that matter], though I did a year and a half ago, when we stayed there. Perhaps they no longer keep it there. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful, and our room, while not 'elegant', was always spotless. We discussed sending them a thank your for the wonderful stay, something we've rarely consider doing.

Regarding the rest of the trip, it was wonderful to be in Paris for Christmas. We had dinner at Jules Vern restaurant at the Eiffel Tower, which was wonderful. My favorite restaurant in the area around the hotel is Bistro D'Henri. We've been there several times, and have never been disappointed. St. Suplice had an impressive nativitiy scene, depecting the whole town and surrounding area of the nativity. It was our first trip to the Pantheon, and it was interesting, as well as the Conciergerie [sp?] where Marie Antoinette was held before her beheading, along with many other notables. This was my third trip to Paris, and it never disappoints. It's one of my favorite cities.

Hi Lois,

Thanks for the positive report on the Bonaparte.

>My favorite restaurant in the area around the hotel is Bistro D'Henri. We've been there several times, and have never been disappointed. <

We ate dinner there one night. Very "gemutlich". I would suggest avoiding the duck in orange sauce, though.

The Rognions de Veau Naturel were very good.

Lois, thanks for the good review of the Bonaparte. I'm definitely going to look into staying there next time I'm in Paris. I hope I see the cat and the dog, too! When you said you paid 119 total, I'm assuming that was euros - correct??

Yes, Sue4, the 119 was in Euros. Intrepid, I have not been able to locate this hotel on any site, to post my review. The only ones with the name that I located were in other cities. I'd be happy to post a positive one, if I knew where/how. Ira, I'm not familiar with the dishes you referred to, but each time I've been in Bistro D'Henri, it's been with 4 or 5 others, and between all of us, we've never been disappointed. [have had duck, but never in orange sauce]. My daughter has recommended this restaurant to many friends and co-workers, and ends up bumping into them there, because they also come back. She'll miss it when she moves, later this month, to London.
