Bologna
Travelling to Florence and Venice in Apriol 2005. Is Bologna worth spending a night in en route (3 days Florence, 3 days Venice with 1 in Bologna) and if so any hotel recommendations? Would be arriving in Bologna by train.
Thanks

Bologna is worth it, if just to wander around the arcaded streets. We stayed in a B&B that I would recommend except that it is on the opposite end of the historical center from the train station. I do not have the web site handy, but there is a general listing of B&Bs available for Bologna; I prefer B&Bs over hotels.

Ira, thanks for the link to your report which I missed ... very enjoyable.
VATraveller, you'll find lots more on Bologna by typing it into the Search field above. I started a couple of threads myself before my trip a couple of years back and there have been many trips since then.

And try to get hold of John Grisham's latest novel, "The Broker," much of which is set in Bologna. It will definitely make you want to go there, plus give you some good restaurant recommendations. In another thread here discussing the book, it was determined that the restaurants where Grisham's character eats really do exist.
