Boat from Cannes to St. Tropez?
I asked this before and never got any replies so will see if there is some new info out there.
Would like to either do a day trip or maybe overnight at St. Tropez, going from Cannes. We'd just as soon turn in our car before that. Anyone know of a website that would show if the hydrofoil runs the last week of June? Or if this service even still exists?

Hi Patrick,
My info isn't that current, but we were in Cannes summer of 2002 and there definetly were hydrofoils to St. Tropez. I remember that we thought this was the best way to go, because in the summer, the trip by car can take hours. I don't know about any web sites, but i will check my brochures i kept from my trip to see if i have any info. you might do a search on the web for cannes hydrofoils, because they had many that go to several different destinations, if i remember correctly. good luck!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I've tried lots of searches and get nothing that I can follow through on. I know I was told it only works to St. Tropez as a day trip, out early in the morning and back late afternoon or evening, which might be fine, but I'm not sure if it runs in June, or even if at all any more.

Patrick,
My being a rat pack never ceases to amaze even me! I found a brochure in french, which i do not read or speak, but the company name i think is Compagnie Maritime Cannoise, Gare Maritime des iles. They are located in Cannes and the telephone no. is 04 93 38 66 33; fax 04 93 38 66 44. E-mail [email protected] . It looks as tho they have day excursions from Cannes to St. Tropez beginning june 15th, but that was in 2002, so this may be outdated. It departs at 9:30AM and returns at 6:30PM. The cost was 27 euro round trip, i think. I hope this helps, please let me know, I'd like to know I was able to give you the info help you needed to plan your trip. Good luck!

Thanks a million. With the company name I was also able to find a website (in French only) at www.ilesdelerins.com
I see that they do the trip -- same hours as you mention -- on Tuesdays and Saturdays only in June. Price is now 30 euro roundtrip.

Patrick,
In checking out Dena's company info., I found this site: http://www.ilesdelerins.com/sitefr/c...e/intro_fr.htm, which indicates in June, they travel to St. Tropez on Thursdays and Saturdays at a cost of 30 Euro.

I'd be happy to, but afraid I won't be much help. My one stay in Sorrento was at Villa Sorrento, pretty disappointing, but I was doing "cheap" so didn't expect much.
In Positano stayed at Palazzo Murat, and was disappointed to be stuck in the "basement" (well, not quite) although I had booked almost a year ahead requesting the old villa part.
And the hotel I stayed at in Capri -- the Flora, is apparently no longer in business, maybe even no longer there.
