Black Forest to Zurich
Hello,
I need to go from Black Forest (Titisee) to Zurich. I am thinking of taking train. Anyone can point me to the right website to make reservation? Do I need to specify which station I will board? Do I need seat reservation? Thanks!

Hi bleupoint,
The train trip will be from 2h30 to 3h30 and involve one, two, three, four, or five changes -- depending on the time you leave.
You can check schedules at www.rail.ch. I didn't have to specify the station when I did a basic search, and the site seems to recognize only one station in Titisee (the site defaults to the Zurich HB, so if you want to go to another station, you'll need to input that one). No need to make reservations. You can print your own ticket a few days before departure.

I am looking for hotel recommendation too. Something right next to the main train station would be great. I've seen some good reviews on Hotel Walhalla and Hotel du Theater, both of them are in my budget range. Any other recommendataons or comments on these two hotels? Thanks!

I stayed in the dependence part of Hotel Walahalla and found that to be good ... so the actual hotel is probably better. This is a good location as well being so close to the main train station. I felt safe as well, but I wasn't out very late.

There was in the hotel proper, but it was pay and pretty expensive. There was an internet cafe a few steps away that seemed a little sketchy but offered good value with fine computers, so I used that to check my e-mail when I had time to kill.

Sorry ... I just re-read your ? and thought that you could be asking if there is wireless connection or something like that in the rooms. I dont't know about that, but google them to find the website (I think it's hotelwalhalla.ch) and try to find that out or e-mail. When I e-mailed them, they always gave fast responses.
