Birthday dinner in Paris

I am going to be in Paris on my birthday, and I was looking for some recommendations for a restaurant. The budget is 100 euros-150 euros (very rough estimate), and a place that is dressy and romantic would be great. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

If I were in Paris (unfortunately I'm not) and it was my birthday (actually, it is), I would want to eat at one of my favorite places. Included are L'Epi Dupin in the 6th; La Regalade (14th) and La Regalade St. Honore (1st); Violon d'Ingres (7th)and Ze Kitchen Galerie (6th). None of these is especially dressy or "red velvet and chandeliers" romantic but all are attractive, comfortable and have delicious food fitting with your budget. Bastide d'Odeon in the 6th is a little dressier and has delicious food. Ask for a table upstairs. You can certainly get dressed up for any of these restaurants as there will be the full gamut of dress at all.

Le Grand Colbert just behind the Palais Royal matches your criteria. Great place for a birthday celebration.

I agree with Violin d'Ingres in the 7th. Super great meal there last June. Pretty restaurant, attentive service, but not too serious. Loved it. For a more casual time but great food try L'Ami Jean in the same neighborhood.

If we dine out only once while in Paris, it would always be at le Dome du Marais on rue des Francs Bourgeois. Food, wine, ambience are excellent. Will be there in May - can't wait!

We celebrated my hubby's 50th birthday at La Grande Cascade in Bois de Boulogne. They have an 85euro menu that includes 3 courses with all the little extras, wine, mineral water, coffee and of course tax and tip. Wonderful old world service, professional but warm and friendly. The food was delicious and the surroundings sumptuous.

Here's my blog entry on our meal:

Have a wonderful birthday in the most romantic city in the world!

Hi Am,

Have you considered having the 80E pix fixe lunch at Taillevent? With wines and ti it will run about 110E pp. http://www.taillevent.com/

You might like to dine in an ancient resto at a window overlooking the Seine - http://www.laperouse.fr/restaurant/ about 250E for two with wine and tip.

For a bit of "fin de siecle" atmosphere http://www.le-train-bleu.com/uk/index.php
Not as good a resto, but a beautiful room.

Enjoy your treat.

I recommend the Bateaux Parisien Lunch cruise on the Seine. We celebrated our anniversary there. Here are two sample videos I made of the cruise.

Reservations can be made online. Once we were confident of good weather, we made our reservations in Service Premier section, which is the most expensive. But it is worth it. It is not crowded, and provides the best scenic views along the Seine. The food is excellent.
