Best website for Paris hotels?
Can anyone recommend a website for discount hotels in Paris, and/or have any experience with www.turquoise.co.uk as a good choice? I noticed that the website mentioned is somewhat misleading by quoting a per person rate.

I am not under the impression that there is anyone best website for Paris hotels (like venere.com for Italy) - - though, increasingly, Venere does havea lot of listings for Paris. I also had a good experience with www.webscapades.com but it has mny years now. They do not pretend to be comprehensive - - they list about 60 hotels in Paris, and 300+ across France. They do have US based telephone operators, toll-free, if you would prefer to talk to a representative about what they have.

JerJer - This will be our 5th visit to Paris and each time I have taken a different route in selecting a hotel.
1st time- from Fromer's travel guide, and ended up in the PERRYVE HOTEL, Rue Madame(next Luxembourg Gardens)We had a baby of two years and were not fased about seeing all the tourist attractions. The old antiquated lift with sliding trelice doors scared the hell out of me. Today I would relish the ride!
2nd time; Travel Agent selected hotel which was The Best Western in rue La Tour Marbourg.
3rd time: Selected from EyeWitness Guide for a friend & I - the Esmarelda in the Latin Quarter and just a dump!
4th time: On the internet and choose Hotel Gavarni in Passy. Delightful, clean and and quiet.
5th time: This May/June we went on the internet and luckily found VENERE.COM who booked us the Holiday Inn Paris Opera. I just know it will be great.
Good rate too quoted for the room not per person.

JerJer, the
http://www.accorhotels.com site is often very good for discount rates. It includes several chains under the Accor label - from deluxe to discount. Accor is a French company.
When you do a search and see an interesting hotel, you can't tell for sure if you have the lowest rate until you go through the process of attempting to make a reservation. That part is frustrating but you might hit on a good deal. Also look at the upper right of the Accorhotels.com site - it lists various discount options every week.
What type of hotel are you looking for? What area do you want? It's quite possible posters here will have helpful ideas.

In Paris we always book our hotel through http://www.France.com
They have all price ranges. You can pick by type of hotel, price range, area of town. They show you photos of each hotel inside and out and they are accurate photos.
The thing that originally captivated me was the reviews. They have reviews of each hotel by people who have actually stayed there. They can be brutally honest and are very helpful. If there is a bad review, you can decide if it is a problem that would bother you or not.
We book directly on France.com and have never had a problem. I highly recommend them. BTW, rates are quoted per room, not per person.

My favourites are:
www.france-hotel-guide.com
www.123france.com
http://digital.france.com/hotels
www. parishotels.com
www.lodgingfrance.com
www.myhotelinparis.com
I've booked about 5 hotels through these sites in recent years and never been disappointed. My favourite hotel in Paris is the St. Jacques on rue des ecoles. I'm more of a budgeet traveler than some here. It's a two star but I think very nice. About 85-125 € for a double depending on the room. Since you asked for "discount" - my favourite one star is the St Andre des Arts in the 6th. Also quite nice but no TV or lift.
